Summit Leadership Foundation Responds to Increased Demand for Services; Adds Executive Director Matt Overby
(Johnson City, Tenn.) Summit Leadership Foundation’s mission of connecting, consulting and caring is taking a leap forward in the New Year with the addition of Executive Director, Matt Overby, a seasoned operations manager with 14 years of experience in hospitality and customer service.
“This move is a response to the demand for our services,” says Dave McAuley, Founder and President of Summit Leadership Foundation. “Hiring Matt to oversee the day to day operations here will enable me to dedicate more time to my passion of training leaders to better serve our community. Everything rises and falls on leadership.” McAuley, who was certified as a John Maxwell team leader in 2011 says the addition of Overby is part of Summit’s “holistic leadership development plan that includes mentoring and coming alongside leaders.”
Overby comes to Summit Leadership Foundation with extensive experience at Chick-fil-A Johnson City Crossing where he served on the core leadership team. That Chick-fil-A is one of the most awarded and highest performing stores in the chain. Prior to that he was Store Manager for Starbucks in Johnson City where he provided coaching and direction to the store team in order to accomplish their operational goals.
“I’m looking forward to leading the team here on site and providing day to day hospitality to the several hundred people per week who use Summit’s facilities,” says Overby. He says his relationship with McAuley extends over several years having partnered together on several ventures in the past. Overby has already played an active role with Summit Leadership Foundation as a member of its Board of Directors.
The move has the blessing of Chick-fil-A’s owner Tim Burchfield. “God put the right people in the right place. Matt will be a great fit at Summit Leadership Foundation. I think it’s where his talent and giftedness is. I look forward to working closely with him in his new role as I’ve been a business partner with Summit since they started and want to see it continue to succeed and thrive.” Burchfield adds that he and McAuley befriended Overby during his time as Store Manager at Starbucks.
Overby is a 1995 graduate of Science Hill high school. He attended Florida State where he studied business and marine biology. He began his career in customer service and operations initially with Sprint and later worked at BellSouth and Target.
“I think Matt’s a perfect fit for that position and much needed because of the growing demand for Summit’s services and their growing influence,” says Tom Seaton, owner of The Firehouse Restaurant and Incoming Chair of the Johnson City/Washington County Chamber of Commerce. McAuley will serve as vice-chair of the Chamber’s newly created Non-Profit Council.
McAuley is the Founder, President and CEO of Summit Leadership Foundation as well as a Founding Member and an Independent Certified Coach, Speaker and Trainer of the John Maxwell Team. Summit Leadership Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit Christian ministry located in Johnson City, TN.
