Jan Jacobson, Summit Communications Director

I grew up on a farm in Elgin, Illinois, an hour outside of Chicago where at the time was still pretty rural. Graduated from high school and began working at a local community college as well as attending classes there. Married Paul Jacobson in 1980 and moved to Dallas, Texas where he was offered a job with Texas Instruments after college. I worked as an Administrative Assistant during this time and discovered that’s where my talents lied. In 1986, we transferred to Johnson City with Texas Instruments and have called this our home ever since. Our family grew shortly after that move. Our sons Kyle and Alex were born and I became a stay at home mom with the exception of working part time for Main Street Café in Jonesborough where I discovered an enjoyment for catering and serving. I reentered the business work world after many years with a job at Siemens followed by working as a Ministry Assistant for the Student Ministry at Grace Fellowship Church. I am currently serving as the Communication Director for Summit and continuing to grow in my faith as God has provided opportunities to work in ministry positions. Paul and I recently became “empty nesters” as Kyle and Alex are both in college now. When not working at Summit, I also enjoy directing weddings, cooking, keeping in shape exercising or spending time outdoors hiking, camping, biking or boating and volunteering and serving my church and local ministries where I can.
