In recent years the market value of silver and gold has increased significantly. Investors find comfort in the stability provided by these precious metals in the midst of uncertain and volatile global conditions. Silver and gold are often used as a safety net strategy in creating a balanced investment portfolio. They bring an added sense of financial security and protection that’s designed to offset the risk of potential loss in other investments.
So, is there any better investment than silver and gold to help protect you in challenging times? According to King Solomon, there is:
Joyful is the person who finds wisdom, the one who gains understanding. For wisdom is more profitable than silver, and her wages are better than gold. Wisdom is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her. (Proverbs 3:13-15 NLT)
There is nothing more valuable and secure than godly wisdom that you can invest in. It is what Solomon asked God for above all else. He could have asked for anything in the world, but Solomon knew the great value of wisdom. Wisdom always appreciates and never retreats in value. When properly invested in our lives, wisdom expands our portfolio of influence to pay dividends in the lives of others that extends well beyond our lifetime.
Invest by keeping the inheritance in mind that you intend to leave to the next generation. One of the great benefits of investing in precious metals like silver and gold is that you have something tangible to pass on to others. It’s the same with wisdom. The practical and tangible qualities of wisdom can be observed through its application to the issues of the day. It will work for you, and when you pass it onto others, it will work for them just as well.
Wisdom is an amazing investment when you compare the price you have to pay with the value you receive. The timing of the investment must be made however when there is teachability and humility. Becoming a student of God’s Word and prayerfully seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit are the only prerequisites to building a wisdom portfolio.
As a Christian leader, investing in wisdom is essential for living a life of influence that will help you become the “joyful person” Solomon writes about. Joy in seeing God use you in the lives of others through sharing your wisdom dividends with them. That is true riches.
Let me challenge you today to be intentional about investing in wisdom. Consistently read God’s Word, prayerfully reflect on His truth, and humbly seek godly wisdom from others you respect. A daily “cost averaging” investment approach to gaining wisdom is guaranteed to pay eternal dividends that will compound their value. The rich inheritance of your godly wisdom will also be passed down for generations to come. It doesn’t get any better than that!
“Price is what you pay. Value is what you get.” ~ Warren Buffett
