God is very generous toward His children.  We are truly blessed.  People who have a scarcity mindset don’t understand the abundance of God.  His resources are limitless and He freely pours out everything we need to accomplish His purpose for our lives. 

We have the opportunity to bless others out the abundance God has poured into us.  Take time today to think about all the things you have that you could give away.  Your list will probably include money and possessions but as you think about it further, you’ll discover that you have so much more at your disposal that would add value to others.  Read this wisdom passage from Proverbs and think of all the “good” you have in your power to give to others.

Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it’s in your power to help them. If you can help your neighbor now, don’t say, “Come back tomorrow, and then I’ll help you.”  (Proverbs 3:27-28 NLT)

It’s in your power to help others.  God has blessed you abundantly so you can reflect His generosity to the people around you in a variety of ways.  You can begin by adding value to relationships with words of encouragement and appreciation.  Giving the time and attention it takes to listen to someone’s life story will deepen your understanding of what they truly value.   Simply accepting a person for who they are will add value to their life and to your relationship with them as well. 

Be generous with what you know.  You can add value to someone’s work by patiently teaching them and providing resources that will equip them to be their best.  Your prayers and gentle words of biblical wisdom can add spiritual value to others.  Through humble servant leadership, your godly example will add value to the team you lead.  True servant leaders can’t help themselves: they are constantly looking for opportunities to add value to others. 

Learn to walk slowly through the crowd.  When you truly understand God’s abundance, there is no good reason to be in a hurry.  Take time to look for the opportunities to reflect the giving nature of God.  Don’t let the busyness of your schedule keep you from connecting with the people around you.  Stop and listen. Really listen.  In the regular conversations you have every day; you will hear cries for help you may have never heard before.  Make an inventory and be aware of ALL the good things you have to give “when it’s in your power to help”. 

Let me challenge you today to be generous with all your resources and to exercise your power to give good things to those around you.  Others will experience the goodness of God through your generosity.
