Dave McAuleyGod is very generous toward us. We are truly blessed. Out of our abundance, we have an amazing opportunity to reflect the giving nature of God by being generous to others. Take a quick inventory of all that you have at your disposal to give away. Your list will probably include money and possessions but when you think about it, you have so much more you can give away that would bless others and add value to them.

You posses power to help people all around you in a wide variety of ways. You can add value to relationships with words of encouragement or appreciation. Giving time and attention to listen to a life story will deepen your connection and add value to that person. You can add value to someone’s work by patiently teaching them and providing resources that will equip them to be their best. Your prayers and gentle words of biblical wisdom can add value to others spiritually. Your godly example through humble servant leadership not only adds value but also provides a sense of being valued to those you lead. True servant leaders just can’t help constantly looking for opportunities to add value to others. Giving money and possessions are certainly on the list, but read this wisdom passage from Proverbs with a broad context of all the “good” you have in your power to give away.

Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it’s in your power to help them. If you can help your neighbor now, don’t say, “Come back tomorrow, and then I’ll help you.” (Proverbs 3:27-28)

Learn to walk slowly through the crowd. Don’t rush through life. Take time to look for opportunities to reflect the giving nature of God. Make an inventory and be aware of ALL good things you have to give “when it’s in your power to help”. Let me challenge you today to be generous with your resources and use your power to give good things to those around you. Your generosity will reflect the goodness of God to others.
