Matt Overby

Matt serves as the President and Executive Director of Summit Leadership, where he works with more than 300 nonprofits, businesses, and churches by utilizing the organization’s core services of connecting, consulting, coaching, and caring. His passion for connection the right people to the right resources at the right time stems form Summit’s belief that better leaders equal stronger communities. Before joining Summit in 2011, he held operational leadership positions at Chick-fil-A, Starbucks Coffee Company, and Target. He is a lifelong student of leadership, having studies business and marine biology at Florida State University. Matt is married and has two sons, two Labradoodles, and two Nigerian dwarf goats. His personal mission statement is to “do for one what you wish you could do for everyone.”

Eric grew up in Seymour, Indiana (home of John “Cougar” Mellencamp”) and earned a business degree from Ball State University. Following a stint in Johnson City working for Saturn, Eric met his wife, Cindy, and moved to Indiana to work for an Indiana corporation as their Director of Customer Service and Training departments. Eight years later, Eric resigned his position and enrolled in Asbury Seminary. Eric earned a Master of Divinity from Asbury in 2010 and began working with Summit as the Director of The Church Mobilization Network in 2014. Eric and Cindy live in Johnson City and have two daughters. Eric is passionate about movies and cycling the beautiful roads of East Tennessee.

Palmer Cantler
Strategy Planning Expert
Palmer Cantler has a passion for seeing her community thrive. She is a graduate of Wofford College, then went on to attain a Masters of Divinity from Duke Divinity School and a Certificate in Leadership in Non-Profit Organizations from UNC-Chapel Hill. She is ordained in the United Methodist Church where her pastoral experience is in large, downtown churches.
Palmer’s studies have been directed towards doing faithful ministry, while also balancing practicality and a desire to be effective. She successfully translates business principles and ideas for use in non-profit and faith community settings. Her desire is to help organizations do healthy and sustainable ministry through visioning, discernment, and coaching.
Recently, Palmer served as the Chair of the Board of Directors with Knoxville Habitat for Humanity. As a young professional herself, she is also passionate about helping young professionals through leadership training and board development.
